Unique Movers is a not for profit that uses a positive reinforcement approach to teach dance and movement skills to children and young adults of all ages and abilities. The mission is to spread the love of dance to those with developmental, physical, or behavioral difficulties in a more relaxed and inclusive dance environment.

Unique Movers first started its mission in June 2018, but the concept was a dream of ours for many years prior. My mom and I were inspired by my Uncle Robbie who absolutely loves to dance and sing. Robbie always came to every single one of my dance performances, welcoming me with a bouquet of flowers.

Music and dance is my greatest love. It also happens to be a universal language. There is no limit to what music and dance can do for all individuals of all ages and abilities. It is therapeutic in more ways than one.

My mother devoted her life to special education, specializing in learning disabilities and receiving her Masters of Science in Education. She is now working in community habilitation, and everyday with Robbie, teaching him reading, writing, life skills, and much more.

Unique Movers was the perfect marriage of our greatest loves in life: Family, dance, and inclusivity. In 2018, we set out to bring this all together.

Since then, Unique Movers has brought inclusive dance events and workshops to the Tri-state area, including New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, the Philadelphia area and beyond! There is no limit to where we dream of going. We hope to put smiles on the faces of many, and to build a community where the love for music and dance overcomes all obstacles.
